Game of the WEEK

Handsworth Royals

"Quote" from Head Coach Richard White

This weekend is a big one for bragging rights on the North Shore. Handsworth Royals are new to the Western  Conference and we are working at the adjustment playing in this strong conference.  Carson Graham’s  experience and large numbers on their team gives them the upper hand since they are used to playing at a higher level.

Charlie McMillam is a strong confident quarter back who has shown great achievements throwing the ball this year and last year.   We are going to do our best to keep the their air game under control.   Defensively James Mooney one of the leading tackler in the province Theo Benedet leading the province in sacks and Darren Colpitts will be working hard to slow down the eagles passing attack.

The Eagles have an aggressive defensive line and good linebackers.   They have a strong secondary so it will difficult to advance the ball against a well balanced defense.

On offence our starting quarterback Ryan Jensen has been putting up good numbers, under ferocious attacking Western Conference  defences, throwing the ball to Steele Young and Keelan White both are leading receivers in the province.

I am quite please with our teams progress, we have an young group of offensive linemen but they have been providing great protection for Ryan and opening up good holes for Robert Lutman to get into the secondary where Robert is able to  show his great running skills.

Carson Graham Eagles

“Quote" from Head Coach Brian Brady

Despite beginning the season 0-4, the Carson Graham Eagles have been improving each week. The Eagles have had challenges with injuries, as they have not yet been at full strength but still have managed to be competitive in loses to New Westminster, South Delta, Vancouver College and highly ranked Seattle Prep team. Weathering the first four games has been a challenge, but as a result, there is plenty of optimism going forward. The Buchanan Bowl is a North Shore sports staple and is looked forward to each year. In 4 of the past 5 years 3 or less points have settled this rivalry game.

On offence, the Eagles run an Air Raid attack led by Liam Scott (WR/QB), Kinneth Balucos (WR) and Iain McTavish (OL). On defence, Seniors Mahyar Hosseini (LB) and Defensive Ends Austin James and Parker Henderson Burt provide a valuable leadership cohort.

AAA Player of the Week

Jhavoun Blake, Rutland VooDoo’s: His 16 carries for 209 yards in the Rutland VooDoos’ 40-20 win at West Vancouver made a statement to be sure. He put an exclamation mark on his afternoon with five tackles and a pair of kick-off returns for 79 yards. Blake is currently leading the province in rushing with 484 yards and nine touchdowns. He is averaging 161 yards per game.

AA Player of the Week

Caden Danbrook, Vernon Panthers:
The Vernon receiver did it all in the Panthers’ 57-0 win at Salmon Arm. Danbrook caught six passes for 192 yards and one touchdown. He also took a kick-off return 80 yards to the house.
