A PAIR OF BCHSFB PLAYERS SIGN DIV I LETTERS OF INTENT

Dontae Bull commits to Fresno State; Grant McDonald to Maine

BC High School Football is pleased to announce that Dontae Bull (Belmont) and Grant McDonald (South Delta) will play NCAA Division I next season.

Offensive/Defensive Lineman, Dontae Bull, has accepted a scholarship to Fresno State University. Bull is coming off a tremendous season with the Belmont Bulldogs where he won AAA Defensive Player of the Year honours. He was ranked #13 in Canada (by Canada Football Chat) and #3 as an Offensive Lineman in their prospect rankings, and was a member of Team BC (U-18) in 2014 & 2015. Bull will play for former BC Lions coach Jeff Tedford, who was named Head Coach at Fresno State in November.

“The main reason I chose Fresno State is because it basically felt like home when I went on my official visit. It is still on the West Coast; the city and the university are the right size for me and I felt the coaches had a positive energy and had a solid plan for me”, said Bull.

“Dontae has been an impact player at the high school level for 4 years”, said Belmont Head Coach Alexis Sanschagrin, “Beyond his accomplishments on the field, as a coach, I am the most proud to have been part of his growth during his years at Belmont and witness him develop into a young man that has earned this amazing opportunity”.

Linebacker, Grant McDonald, has signed with the University of Maine. The three-year starter has enjoyed a fantastic BCHSFB career at South Delta earning honours such as: First Team All-Canadian, Conference & Provincial All-Star status in 2015 & 2016, Team MVP in 2015 & 2016, and was a AAA Provincial Champion in 2014 with the Sun Devils. He also owns the provincial records for most career tackles (263), touchdowns in a game (seven), and tackles in a game (29).

“I am super excited about the future. I would like to thank my parents, siblings, and coaches for everything they have done for me in my life. I am incredibly grateful I have been given a chance to play at the division 1 level and I can’t wait to become a Black Bear,” said McDonald.

“Grant has been one of the best players that have played on South Delta in the last 15 years,” said South Delta Head Coach Ray Moon, “he played every down with an edge that put him in a class all alone. There were a number of schools bidding for his services on both sides of the border, but the University of Maine was the place that checked all the boxes he was looking for. They are getting a great coachable player that isn’t afraid to do the work that is required to be successful at the next level”.
