WHAT/WHEN/WHERE
The 13th Annual, Big Kahuna 7 on 7 Passing Challenge will be held on Saturday, July 5th (11:30 am to 4 pm) and Sunday, July 6th (9:30 am to 2 pm), at the Burnaby Lake Sports Complex. The complex is located at Kensington and Sprott St., approximately 25 minutes from the Peace Arch and Pacific Hwy Truck Border crossings. The event will be hosted by the New Westminster High School.

WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT
A chance for you to get a look at your team’s passing offense and defense against some top flight competition. This promises to be a first class event with an emphasis on fun, competition and sportsmanship.

FORMAT
Non-contact (no-pads) 7 on 7 football. No linemen (except center), all passing, geared towards all types of US high school offenses. Similar to what you might see at a Team Passing Camp, or “Skelly” session in your own practice.

Thirty-two teams, from both sides of the border. Teams will be guaranteed at least five games (40 minute games) and as many as seven. The event will be a two-day format with the round-robin portion on Saturday, followed by a single elimination playoff, and a consolation round on Sunday.

ELIGIBILITY
All teams must be representing a varsity high school football program
(Grades 9-12). Maximum: 18 years old

INSURANCE AND LIABILITY
All participants must provide their own insurance. Prior to the event, coaches of all registered teams will receive a liability release form. All athletes must bring a completed copy of this form to the event in order to participate. There will be a certified medical trainer on site throughout the event.

GATORADE LINEMAN / STRONGMAN CHALLENGE

This year’s event will again include the Gatorade Lineman Challenge. The competition will consist of five events:

  1. 185 Pound Bench Press (number of reps)
  2. Truck Tire Toss
  3. Obstacle Course
  4. 5-man Truck Push
  5. Tug-o-War

The Lineman Challenge will take place on Sunday, July 6th. Each team must consist of 5 or 6 players. The cost is $75 for the first team, $50 for each additional team.

BIG KAHUNA SPORTS/ HUMAN PERFORMANCE BOOTH
Big Kahuna Sports will have a booth at our registration location and will be offering special team rates on Adidas football shoes, gloves, and various other types of equipment. Tournament t-shirts and shorts will be available.

FACILITIES
The Burnaby Lake Sports Complex is a first class facility with 9 fully maintained grass fields. There will be four changing rooms available. Some fields will have filming facilities.

NOTICE TO COACHES
Each team will be asked to provide a coach to assist in officiating (2-3 games). All coaches will receive a registration package complete with liability release forms, maps, complete rules, and any other event information approximately 10
days prior to the event. The first game starts on Saturday at 11:30am and there will be a coaches meeting at 11:15am. Because of the two-day format, we are starting later on Saturday to accomodate US teams wishing to travel that day. Each team will be asked to supply uniforms (preferably two sets with numbers). The awards ceremony takes place immediately following the Championship Game on Sunday at approximately 2 pm.
